On Oct. 31, 2017, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, Tennessee, held its annual pumpkin-decorating contest.
Residents presented their decorated mini-pumpkins for judging by residents, their family members and associates. Mary Shook won first place for her birthday pumpkin, and Pat Arnett won second place for her crybaby pumpkin. Third place went to Goldie Thurman, who decorated her pumpkin as a Christmas elf.
The first-place winner received a pocketbook with matching wallet, and the runners-up won bath items.
“The pumpkin-decorating is something the staff and residents look forward to every year,” said Amanda Jennings, admissions and marketing coordinator. “It’s amazing to see all the ideas the residents come up with.”
The pumpkins were then put on display for all to see at the Fall Festival party.
