On Oct. 30, 2017, Sandra Lewis, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Elizabethton, Tennessee, received the CNA of the Year Award for Life Care Centers of America’s Appalachian Region.
Lewis has worked at the building for 21 years. She was chosen for her work ethic and for going out of her way on holidays to make things festive for the residents and associates. She makes costumes all year long so she has enough for resident and associates, and she brings decorations from home and decorates her hall for the holidays.
“I felt very surprised, honored and thankful to receive this award,” said Lewis. “I love my patients like they are family. I love the love and kindness my patients show me.”
The facility and regional associates presented Lewis with a plaque and a cake celebrating her award.
Life Care Center of Elizabethton also honored its facility-wide CNAs of the Year on Nov. 1: Lewis, Bethany Williams and Bobbie Dillard. It also honored its Team Spirit Award winner, Amanda Eller, social worker.
